When I first thought about merging 2D and 3D, an image of this character living in a world that exists in the spotlight came to mind. From there, I imagined a story in which this same actress walks on stage from behind the scenes. The “Backstage” demo depicts an actress backstage preparing to take the stage. This young woman who will have caught your attention has been recovered from the Backstage demo presented CEDEC 2019:Īs to when this character returns for this artworkhe has answered : To achieve this expression, I imagined the scenes and stories in my head, which ultimately resulted in this artwork. From there, my intention was to represent the 2D part as “still” and the 3D part as “moving”. The concept of this artwork is to bring light (a nod to “luminous” which is in the name of our studio) in the 2D illustration, drawing the illuminated areas as if they were real-time rendering obtained with the Luminous Engine. Honjo-san explained his vision and that of his teams behind this wedding: Yes but that’s not all the image you see above comes from the marriage between a 2D drawing and what would have been obtained via a real-time rendering, with the result on the left and the original sketch on the right. Nevertheless, Takashi Honjoartistic director of the studio, gratifies us with a concept where “technology and art” as well as “stillness and movement” meet. Founded in 2018 by Hajime Tabata, who left in the meantime, Luminous Productions is now just over two years old and is holding back from divulging anything about their AAA in the making.
